About Pre-K in our Public School System
The St. Tammany Parish Public School Pre-K program (LA-4) provides a free daily education to four-year-old children who meet age and income qualifications as determined by the Louisiana State Department of Education. Limited paid seats are available to families who do not qualify for the funded seats.

APPLY FOR ST.TAMMANY PARISH PUBLIC PRE-K
(LA-4)
The online Pre-K application for the 2025-2026 school year is now open. All families seeking free or paid tuition spots must complete an application. In order to qualify for the 2025-2026 school year, children MUST be 4 years of age on or prior to September 30, 2025.
STEP 1: COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION (Pre-K application for 2025-2026)
After the application is received, please allow up to two weeks for it to be processed. Once the application is processed, you will be notified of one of the following:
- Your child is eligible to attend at no cost.
- Your child is on a waitlist for a tuition spot.
- Additional documentation is needed. Families will be instructed on how and when to provide those documents.
STEP 2: COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION FOR PRE-K
- Once you have received a confirmation code from a STPPS Pre K staff member confirming your eligibility and placement, you will be instructed how to register and complete the process for your child to attend STPPS Pre-K.
- PLEASE NOTE THAT ONCE DETERMINED ELIGIBLE, YOU MUST REGISTER WITH THE SCHOOL IN ORDER FOR YOUR CHILD TO ATTEND.

The Kids in Transition (KIT) program provides for the academic needs of identified homeless children and their families within St. Tammany, in compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. The goal of the KIT Program is to work in collaboration with educator personnel and community service agencies to provide support that promotes academic success and student achievement. St. Tammany Parish Schools (Early Childhood Department) created some activities for Pre-K aged children and their families to do together. Activities include the areas of math, literacy, and interpersonal skills. Once you open the website, scroll to the bottom of the page for the activities.

This grant (up to $1,500) provides CDA tuition course and credential reimbursement to individuals who work in a Type III child care center, Head Start/Early Head Start or academically approved family child care home within St Tammany Parish who have previously applied for a been denied a LA Pathways scholarship.
